Titled the “Turnaround King” by the Memphis Business Journal, Ray Shoemaker has become renowned for a style of management that has seen him bring him success from near failure for many different healthcare centers and establishments. As well as gaining such acclaim from a selection of local business journals, Ray has also enjoyed a similar level of recognition at a national level and it is little surprise when you consider that he has revived the fortunes of medical centers in North Mississippi, Batesville, and is currently enjoying success in his role as the founder of Rural Healthcare Developers.

Ray enjoyed the first taste of his success while working as director of Behavioral Health for Perspectives/Horizons Mental Health Management. His time there led to him being taken on to start a behavioral health program with the Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville. In no more than a month, he had established the center’s geri-psych unit, which grew to a 22 bed, respected ward. As well as being chiefly responsible for the continued development of the Behavioral Health center, he nearly tripled the health center’s revenue from $23m to $64m following promotions to Chief Operating Office and eventually to Chief Executive Office within the same organization.

In 2007, Ray Shoemaker undertook perhaps his biggest and most difficult role yet in the founding of Rural Healthcare Developers; a company that helps rural healthcare centers and care practitioners offer their patients the greatest benefits possible; Ray himself witnessed the lack of healthcare in rural areas while growing up in Walnut Grove, MS.
